Where did the Easter bunny come from?

Oh you remeber as a kid running around collecting eggs that you thought were laid by a mythical creature known as the Easter Bunny, and then as you got older and realised (or the fact that your parent(s) told you) that there is no Easter Bunny (or tooth fairy, but that's another story). Well I'm going to explain where the Easter Bunny originated from. Easter is the day the we as Christians mark as the day that Jesus rose from the dead, but for some reason we tell our children that there is such a thing as the Easter Bunny. A time ago, when people of this century weren't born just yet, many pagan cultures had festivals; one was devoted to Eostre the goddess of dawn and Eostre was link to the hare (rabbit) and the egg, which are both symbols of fertility. Christians then tried to get pagens to convert to christianity by turning festivals into christian holidays and mixing in some of the pagen tradtion with their own. Now there you have it, so enjoy your kids candy and try not to eat all of their eggs.
